FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q: When is your next book coming out?

A: I’m always working on at least one new project. The best way to know when my newest work is released is to sign up for my free newsletter. I only send one update per month (or 2 if something big is happening). I’ll never give your email address to anyone else, and you can opt out at any time.

Q: How can I get in touch with you?

A: My email is writer@anthonystclair.com (and here are other ways to contact me). I read everything I receive and try hard to respond to every message, but it usually takes me a while. I am happy to do interviews, appearances, and other events; contact me or also see my Media Kit.

Q: Do you accept guest posts?

A: No.

Q: Will you read my work or offer advice or blurbs?

A: I wish you every success and the best of luck, but I won’t be able to read your work or offer advice or a blurb or such. My commitments to my work and my family don’t leave me the time to do otherwise.

Q: Do you write under any pen names?

A: At this point I only write under my name, Anthony St. Clair.

Q: Are you traditionally or indie published? And if indie, does that mean your books are unedited, shoddily formatted drivel that only your mom likes?

A: Indie. I have published my books under my imprint, Rucksack Press. Back in 2011, I chose to indie publish my books after 6 months of research on the state and future of the publishing industry. My family is full of businesspeople and entrepreneurs, and they had rubbed off on me enough for me to want to take on the additional work of managing more of the publishing, distribution, and business aspects of books.

I am confident that my books are of the same or higher quality as any book published by a traditional publisher. All my books go through rigorous editorial and design processes. You can get the full skinny on my quality guarantee and author ethics pages.

Q: Do I need to read your books in order?

A: No. All stories in the Rucksack Universe are intended to interweave yet stand alone. You can come to the series from any book and read it in whatever order you want.

If you want to know what reading order I recommend, it’s this:

  1. The Martini of Destiny
  2. Home Sweet Road
  3. Forever the Road

Q: Where are your books available?

A: My books are available wherever print books and e-books are sold, including Amazon, Kobo, Apple iBooks, Smashwords, and more. My books are also distributed by Ingram, the world’s largest book distributor, so you can order any of my books through your favorite bookstore.

My titles are also available in my own online store, in e-book formats that can easily be uploaded to your reader or app: Kindle, Nook, Kobo, iBooks, etc. If you want signed paperbacks, those are available exclusively from my online store.

Q: Do your e-books have DRM?

A: None of my e-books have DRM, and I don’t plan for them ever to have DRM.

Q: Are your books available on audio?

A: Not yet, but I’m working on it.

Q: I’m a foreign publisher/movie producer/TV writer/video game company who wants to acquire rights to one of your works. How do I know if it is available?

A: For inquiries about foreign rights, audio rights, interactive multimedia rights, movie rights, TV rights, and/or dramatic rights contact me, Anthony St. Clair, at writer@anthonystclair.com, Rucksack Press, 1260 Beebe Ln., Eugene, OR 97404, USA. Phone: +1.541.221.1046.

If you represent authors for these or other rights, I am also seeking representation and can be contacted per the above.

Q: What else do you do?

A: In addition to my Rucksack Universe fantasy books, I write about craft beer and also do business copywriting. You can see my other works at my portfolio and craft beer articles pages.
