The brewer herself is here?

Today’s Oneword: Beckoning

The Oneword website is a daily writing exercise where you have 60 seconds to write something based on one word. I use it to give both you and me a daily 1-minute glimpse into the Rucksack Universe of travel fiction stories:

And there she stood, somehow part of the crowd yet above it. She waved no glass, she chanted no words or songs. Yet every word from the crowd, every feeling, tied back into her, flowed through her, amplified and magnified, yet simplified to purest feeling and emotion. She was not a woman so much as she was the very cause, the reason they were here. And though she said nothing, sang nothing, did nothing, her very presence was the beckoning that brought the others on. Could it be, she thought, standing at the window. The brewer herself is here?

What are these things? Oneword posts are a way for me to explore ideas for my Rucksack Universe of travel fiction stories. Want to know more? Leave a comment below or check out the stories.
