Is the Rebel too small to take a long trip? Honda Rebel Online, The Unofficial Web Site
"First, I have a 1986 CMX450cc. I bought it last year with 4,500 miles on it. The 1987 450cc had larger jets in the carburetors, so I had them put into mine. This was the close thing to a jet kit that I could find. It didn’t cost much either. Then I added a spitfire sport shield, padded sissy bar, Willie & Max compact studded slant saddlebags and tool pouch. Then finally I added a highway foot pegs set that Dr. Rebel from Texas suggested. I change to oil every 2,000 miles with mobile 1 and I add Motor Koute."
Chain Lubrication and cleaning – Honda Rebel Online, The Unofficial Web Site
"Chain Lubrication and cleaning,- Lubricate every 600 miles ( 1000 km) or sooner if chain appears dry. The O-rings in this chain can be damaged by steam cleaning, high pressure washers and certain solvents Clean the chain with kerosene. Wipe dry and lubricate only with SAE 80 or 90 gear oil. Commercial chain lubricants may contain solvents which could damage the rubber 0-rings. Using the above has given me 17,600 miles from my chain so far. I use a brush to generously apply the gear oil. Hope this helps.
Help! I’m looking for a turn signal relay for a 1987 Honda Rebel. Sure would appreciate a link or a tip. Thanks.

I’d check Jack’s Rebel Catalog, first off:

If he can’t sort you out, he can probably point you in the right direction.

Stumbled across your site and thought I’d mention that, in case you’re still interested 😉

I was just reading the post and had a question a question about using Mobile 1 in the rebel.
Isn’t it a synthetic oil? Can we use it
safely?
thanks
Yes, Mobil 1 is a synthetic oil. I’d check with your manual or local Honda motorcycle dealer for whether or not it’s ok in your particular motorcycle. It might not be a big deal; if you have a newer bike, however, sometimes it’s better to run good ol’ “dino” oil until the bike is broken in. But that all varies by bike.
I just purchased a 2007 Honda Rebel with 800 miles on it. Extended Warranty. Any suggestions on the very first thing I should do to this motorcycle as far a servicing it or any improvements.
Offhand, I’d say just make sure everything is ship-shape – fluids, chain, etc. Otherwise, just ride it till it feels like yours. Then you’ll have a better idea of how you want to change and customize it.
what is the mfg. of the highway footpegs that dr rebel suggested? Thanks, Larry
