Break-ins and other crimes have become a big problem in Oregon the outdoors as of late. In a recent story, NPR covered how citizens are organizing to monitor and take back their public lands:
"The last thing you want to worry about while you enjoy the great outdoors is whether your car is being burglarized. Some fishers, hikers, and recreationists in parts of Oregon and Washington are fighting back against crime. They’ve formed their own patrols and crime-watch networks to keep an eye on boat launches, parks and trailheads"
