More on the 4th Annual Eugene Irish Cultural Festival

Come experience locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally acclaimed Irish traditional musicians, scholars, and dancers at the 4th annual Eugene Irish Cultural Festival on Saturday,March 3rd, 200. These remarkable participants will perform, teach workshops and share their enthusiasm and skills in Irish music and other aspects of Irish culture. This may be one of our best Eugene Irish Cultural Festivals!

Due to our incredibly fortunate collaboration this year with the University of Oregon’s School of Music and Dance and a generous grant awarded to this festival from the Irish government, we have internationally renowned Irish traditional musicians featured in this year’s festival:

• Randal Bays, fiddler and guitaristfrom the Seattle area
• Aidan Brennan,guitarist who is a Dublin native and now lives in Co. Laois, Ireland
• Eliot Grasso, Uilleann piperand currently a graduate student of ethnomusicology in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick
• James Keane, button accordionist and Dublin native
• Catherine McEvoy, Irish flute player and tin whistler from Co. Meath, Ireland
• Gearoid ÓhAllmhuráin, concertina player, Co. Clare native, a professor of Irish Studies and Music at the University of Missouri, St. Louis
• Patrick Ourceau, fiddler from France who now lives in Ontario

In addition to these fabulous musicians, the festival will also feature:

• Murray Irish Dancers from Portland
• Sheltering Sky, one of San Francisco’s most popular Celtic music groups
• David Helfand & Friends, Eugene harpist and musicians
• Laura Zaerr with Village Green and Ceili Mor, a harpist with a group from Corvallis and a group from the UO
• Linda Danielson and Glen Waddell, fiddler and guitarist/piper/whistle player
• Tonn Nua, a group of 5 local teenagers, the next generation of I-Trad musicians
• Rebecca Lomnicky, a teenage US National Scottish Fiddle Champion who will discuss the influence of Scottish music on Irish music
• Janet Naylor, Eugene harpest
• Jenny Humphrey and Students, a Eugene fiddle teacher and students
• Sheldon Choir and the Dublinaires, singing Irish tunes, some in the Irish language
• Ceili Dance, an Irish social dance with instruction
• Open Irish Session, bring your instrument and join the group playing Irish music
• Family Activities, have fun learning about different aspects of Irish culture
• Irish Food in the Sheldon Cafeteria
• Vendors of Goods with an Irish/Celtic Focus
