New Co-Chair of Mid-Valley Willamette Writers

Dental work? Writing time!
My new duties mean I will just have to improve how I use my time. Dental work? Writing time!

Giving back to the largest writers organization in Oregon

What is it?

What is this smart-mouth typist foodie up to now?

I’m stoked to announce that I’ve accepted a new volunteer position: co-chair of the Mid-Valley Chapter of Willamette Writers.

Along with fellow co-chair Valerie Willman, as of September we’ll be running the day-to-day business of one of Oregon’s most active writing communities. Our thanks to outgoing chair, JoJo Jensen. After 5 years of strong, vibrant leadership, JoJo is stepping down to focus on her new business, Chapter and Voice.

I’ve been involved with Willamette Writers since 2010. Headquartered in Portland, Willamette Writers is the largest writers organization in Oregon. Their support, resources and community are invaluable to the career of any writer, author or editor. I’m glad to give back to such a vibrant organization.

It’s an exciting time. There won’t be much carry-over from my work with the chapter and my blog, but I want to take a few moments and note some upcoming writers events for you…

Special to Eugene and Oregon writers

June 2 Writers Services Fair, Tsunami Books, Eugene

Our Mid-Valley chapter is hosting a Writers Services Fair on June 2 at Tsunami Books. If you’re a writer, come on down and meet the professionals who can help make your career, books and projects a success. JoJo, Valerie and I will also be on-hand. If you’re interested in Willamette Writers, you can also sign up for membership there.

August 5-7, Annual Willamette Writers Conference, Portland

JoJo, Valerie and I will also be in Portland on Aug. 5-7 for the annual Willamette Writers Conference (WWC). From attending workshops to pitching agents, WWC is considered one of the top 10 writing conferences in the country. If you’re a fiction or non-fiction writer looking for contacts, an agent, or just ways to improve your game, this is the place to be. Learn more about the conference…

Good to be a writer

Thanks for your support and friendship. If you’re interested in WW, check out our site or drop me a line for more info.

It’s going to be a fun time.
