Beer vs. wine in Cheese Wars II

Credit: 16 Tons

Presented by 16 Tons, Oakshire Brewing, & The Supreme Bean

Come to the next bout of Cheese Wars, Eugene’s food-pairing showdown between two ancient beverages, beer and wine. You taste, you decide.

The battlefield

On Tuesday, July 19, The Supreme Bean at 29th and Willamette hosts 16 Tons and Oakshire Brewing for Cheese Wars II. The battlefield:

  • Sample 5 courses of cheese carefully selected by Oakshire’s cheese enthusiast extraordinaire Eriel Hoffmeier
  • Each cheese course will be paired with a beer and a wine
  • Brewmaster Matt Van Wyk of Oakshire Brewing will choose and present the beers
  • Isaac Silva of Estelle and OBM will choose and present the wines

Which pairings work best? Only you can decide. A fun and lively sit-down affair, Cheese Wars is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the processes of making and pairing beer, wine, and cheese.

Choose from a 5:30 p.m. session or an 8 p.m. session, each lasting approximately 2 hours (same cheeses and beverages sampled at each). Cost per session is $20, which includes all tasting and food (cheese and bread).

See you at Cheese Wars II

Tickets are limited. Purchase tickets in-store at 16 Tons on 13th & High, Eugene, or online at
