A touch of Ireland in Oregon
Every year, the Eugene Irish Cultural Festival gives us a taste of Celtic culture right here in the Pacific Northwest. If you’re a fan of the festival, have you thought about how you could also help plan and run the show?
A call for new committee members
Peggy Hinsman, Coordinator of the Eugene Irish Cultural Festival, is seeking new Steering Committee Members.
“We need more people to help organize the festival, who will be members of the Steering Committee,” said Hinsman. “It would be helpful to have four or more new members on the Steering Committee. Each Steering Committee member coordinates one or more areas.”
New and additional coordinators are needed for:
- Family Activities
- Fund Raising
- Volunteer Coordinator
Coordinators can also recruit a subcommittee to complete festival work and stay on schedule with what needs to be done. Between now and the end of 2011, the Steering Committee typically meets 1-2 times per month, with more frequent meetings in 2012. “As the festival coordinator,” says Hinsman, “I would like to meet individually with each coordinator twice per month to go over the timeline of what needs to be accomplished.”
In addition to planning the festival, the benefits of volunteering give you a free entry to the Friday night festival concert, free entry for the Saturday festival and an invitation to the festival after-party.
