Hellshire II: Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels
Oakshire Brewing Company of Eugene, Oregon, will release its second barrel-aged beer in their Hellshire series. Hellshire II will be available in Oakshire’s newly remodeled tasting room. Sales of this limited-release beer begin at noon on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, and will end at 4 p.m.
Hellshire II is an Imperial Stout that has been 100% aged in Buffalo Trace and Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels for 7 months. Notes of vanilla, coconut, oak and bourbon intertwine with the beer’s complex chocolate and roasted coffee character. Hellshire II is 10.5% alcohol by volume and sold in 22-oz. wax-dipped bottles. This beer is ready to drink now, or it can be cellared for future enjoyment.
“The Hellshire beers have been well-received, and we are excited to bring out the second beer in the series,” said brewmaster Matt Van Wyk. The Hellshire series of aged beers is part of Oakshire’s growing Barrel Program, launched in 2010 with the release of Hellshire I, a barleywine that had been aged in bourbon barrels.
Hellshire II: Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels will be released Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, 12-4 p.m. All of Oakshire’s beers can be sampled, and pints, growlers, and kegs will be available for purchase. 22 ounce, wax dipped bottles of Hellshire II will sell for $15 each, and supplies are limited to 90 cases to sell on the dock. Local live music and an assortment of food items will also be there for your enjoyment. The Oakshire brewery and tasting room are located at 1055 Madera Street, Eugene.
