Sample Oregon barrel-aged beers as special Corvallis BARREL, Sept. 14

As part of Corvallis Beer Week, the Corvallis Craft Beer Association (CCBA) hosts the first annual BARREL, a barrel-matured Oregon Craft Beer experience. On Friday, Sept. 14, 6:30-10pm, you can come to the Odd Fellows Hall in downtown to showcase barrel-aged beers from Oregon craft breweries.

The idea for BARREL came about over pints and lively discussion between the CCBA Co-Founders of Corvallis Craft Beer Association, Drew Salmi, Chris Althouse, and Nathan Langner. After gauging interest and advice from brewers who practice the art of barrel aging, the CCBA decided that Corvallis craft beer fans were ready for this type of event in their own town.

Breweries with beers being served at BARREL include:

  • 2 Towns Ciderhouse
  • Block 15 Brewing
  • Breakside Brewery
  • Cascade Brewing
  • The Commons Brewery
  • Flat Tail Brewing
  • Lickspigot
  • Logsdon Farmhouse Ales
  • Ninkasi Brewing
  • Oakshire Brewing
  • Stone Brewing
  • Upright Brewery

BARREL Tickets are $25 and include a commemorative ticket, poster, Belgian-style tulip tasting glass and tasting booklet. Your ticket also includes a 6 oz. palette-cleansing beer upon entry, and 4 Tasting Tokens. Each token is good for a single 4 oz. pour, with additional tokens available for $2 each. Food will be available for purchase, and all dishes will be hand-prepared on site by Les Caves Bier & Kitchen.

About Corvallis Beer Week and the Corvallis Craft Beer Association

The idea for Corvallis Beer Week (CBW) was the brainchild of CBW Co-Founder Drew Salmi, Beer Curator at Les Caves Bier & Kitchen in downtown Corvallis. Other communities throughout Oregon have been hosting popular beer week events, including Portland, Eugene and Medford. Drew and other CBW founders realized the time was right for Corvallis to host their own event, showcasing craft beer from around Corvallis and the rest of Oregon. After bringing in Chris Althouse, Co-Founder of Oakshire Brewing and Bar Manager at Block 15, and Nathan Langner, Instructor & Faculty Member at Oregon State University, the Corvallis Beer Week team was complete. After an amazing inaugural year in 2011, CBW is back in 2012 with a week of craft beer tastings, dinners and other events.

Corvallis Craft Beer Association (CCBA) was founded in 2012 by friends, Drew Salmi, Chris Althouse and Nathan Langner, with the social mission to promote Craft Beer advocacy throughout beautiful Corvallis, Oregon. CCBA’s signature event, Corvallis Beer Week, runs from September 10-16, 2012 with 39 fantastic events. CCBA has also added a 2nd signature event with BARREL, a barrel-matured Craft Beer experience on Friday, September 14th.
