Fancy a beer in the Eugene/Springfield area? This past week or two has expanded your options—and there’s more on the way.

Plank Town Opens

After months of anticipation and a few delays, Plank Town Brewing opened for business on Feb. 24. Word is the downtown Springfield brewpub is already packed with eager locals. Plank Town’s house beers aren’t pouring yet, but for now guest taps feature a range of area beers including Oakshire, Block 15 and Brewers Union 180.

Eugene Beer Week Announces Dates

The 3rd Annual Eugene Beer Week will take place throughout Eugene May 4-11, 2013.

The website currently shows 2012 info, but updates are in process so check back regularly for more info.

On a personal note, you may know that I helped with EBW 2012, and had a great time. I’m hoping to be involved again this year, but I have to see how that weighs in with some looming publishing commitments for some of my other work. If I can’t plan, well, I guess I’ll just have to help drink the beer…

Tastings Does Craft Beer

Writing about the Eugene craft beer scene for the Register-Guard and their Tastings section is lots of fun. The Eugene/Springfield area is in the midst of a huge craft beer renaissance, and I love being along for the ride!

So, On Feb. 28, 2013, the RG released a special craft beer edition of Tastings that spreads the word on lots of malty hoppy goodness developing throughout Eugene, Springfield and Lane County. Here are some notable pieces, and also the 3 articles I contributed about the latest brewing in the area:

These 3 Tastings articles are by me:

Oy. What’s going to happen next week?
