Lunch with an Author, May 21, 2015

The Book NestThe Book Nest is a lovely wee bookstore in Springfield, Oregon. Each week from 12 to 2 p.m., they offer the public an opportunity to have lunch with an area author. Admission is free, but please make a purchase from the lunch venue.

On Thurs., May 21, you can have lunch with a certain Anthony St. Clair, a freelance writer and author of the Rucksack Universe books, a series of travel fantasy novels. (You probably haven’t heard of him, but you never know.)

February Lunch with an Author

Thurs., Feb. 5: William Senyard, pastor, lecturer, and author of Fair Forgiveness: Finding the Power to Forgive Where You Least Expect It.

Thurs., Feb. 12: Robert Young, teacher, writing consultant, and author of multiple books for young people, including The Magic of A.C. Gilbert and Chomp: A Chewer’s Guide to Gum.

Thurs., Feb. 19: Johnny Sundstrom, author of Dawn’s Early Light and For Spacious Skies, historical fiction about the American West.

Fri., Feb. 27: Gina Oschner, Corban College professor and author of award-winning short stories and the novel The Russian Dreambook of Colour and Flight.

March Lunch with an Author

Thurs., March 5: Dave Imus, award-winning cartographer and masterful creator of state, local, and art maps.

Fri., March 13: Theo Czuk, musician, poet, songwriter, and author of the western novel Heartscarred.

Thurs., March 19: Annette Cone, author of With God … on a Tanzanian Safari, a collection of photography and meditations, and Shelley Houston, author of several works of fiction and owner of Just Dust Publishers.

April Lunch with an Author

Thurs., April 2: Carola Dunn, author of more than fifty works of fiction, including the popular Daisy Dalrymple mysteries.

Thurs., April 9: Sharon Munson, local poet whose work has appeared in numerous publications and several collections.

Thurs., April 16: Mary E. Lowd, science fiction author, with more than fifty short stories and two novels in print.

April 23 or 24, time TBA: Birthday party for Shakespeare, featuring Shakespearean monologues by Springfield High School drama students.

Thurs., April 30: Steve Hunt, Vice President for Marketing at Corban University and author of the children’s book Alex and the Airplane and the novel Love and Deception: One Family’s Encounter with Dementia.

May Lunch with an Author

Thurs., May 7: Donna McFarland, author of multiple chapter books for young people, including the Purple Elephant series, the Duck and Friends series, and the Sam and the Dragon series.

Thurs., May 14: Judy Cox, popular, award-winning author of numerous children’s books, including The Secret Chicken Society and the Tails of Frederick and Ishbu series.

Thurs., May 21: Anthony St. Clair, freelance writer, editor, and author of the Rucksack Universe books, a series of travel fantasy novels.

Thurs., May 28: Terri Kelley, former elementary and middle school teacher and author of numerous books for children.

June Lunch with an Author

Thurs., June 4: Terry Glaspey, Harvest House editor and author of the Book Lover’s Guide to Great Reading, Not a Tame Lion: The Spiritual Legacy of C.S. Lewis., and his newest volume, The Prayers of Jane Austen.

Directions to Indulge! Antiques

From Highway 126, take the Mohawk exit. Pass Bi-mart and Dutch Bros. and turn left at the next light. In the parking lot, turn left then go straight back (away from Mohawk), between the two large buildings. Indulge is on the back side of the building on the left, with the entrance facing 18th Street.

Author Panel: Writing and Business: Getting it done despite our lives, May 7, 2015

The Mid-Valley Chapter of Willamette Writers is hosting an author panel on May 7, 2015. I’ll be one of the authors discussing how we balance our life responsibilities while also managing to make time for writing, editing, publishing, and marketing.

Details below. The discussion will be the main part of the agenda for the monthly meeting of the Mid-Valley Chapter, but the evening is open the public as well as members of Willamette Writers. You can also learn more at the chapter website.

Looking for your next great read, or some gifts for the holidays? Meet Anthony, 39 other Oregon authors, and 12 Oregon artists during the 15th Annual 2014 Authors & Artists Fair, hosted by the Lane Library League as a benefit for the countywide Summer Reading Program.

The event is held in the glass-roofed Atrium at the Fairgrounds, next door to the popular Holiday Market. Parking is easy.

FREE admission, suggested $1-5 donation.

All 3 books currently in the Rucksack Universe series will be available: The Martini of Destiny, Home Sweet Road, and the newest, released in September, Forever the Road.

A portion of the proceeds of all sales goes to benefit the non-profit Lane Library League.
